Education
The public school system in White County is composed of 27 schools in 11
cities. Searcy Public Schools have the largest enrollment in the county with
over 3,700 students. There are three elementary schools, one middle school,
one junior high, and one senior high in the Searcy School District. Educational
opportunities for all children kindergarten through 12th grade are available.
The White County library is located in the downtown area of Searcy. Harding
University, a Christian liberal arts coeducational university, is located
in Searcy. Enrollment is over 5,300 students from all 50 states and 44 foreign
countries. Harding Academy is closely associated with Harding University with

Harding University
Harding University is a private Christian institution of higher education
committed to the traditions of liberal arts and sciences. The university
has six academic units; the College of the Arts and Humanities,
the
College of Sciences, the College of Bible and Religion, the School of
Business, the School of Education and the School of Nursing. Graduate programs
are offered in several fields. An Honors College is designed to serve all
majors at the university.
An international studies program is offered, with overseas campuses in Italy,
France, Greece, London, Spain and Australia. Harding has served the community,
nation and world for more than 75 years and earns national recognition annually

Arkansas State University—Beebe is located 17 miles
south of Searcy and offers two year degrees and certificates plus several
bachelor’s
degree in certain areas through its parent institution, Arkansas State
University at Jonesboro. The University of Arkansas-Little Rock is a quick
hour's drive by HWY. 67/167 and offers many programs, including a law degree,
for those who may have educational needs beyond Searcy’s offerings but
who want to live in this community. The Searcy area is served by two technical
Institutes, Arkansas State University-Searcy and Arkansas State University-Beebe,
both are accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges/Commissions
on schools.
Arkansas State University-Searcy offers programs which include air conditioning,
auto body, automotive technology, business education, day care, diesel
technology, electronics, machining technology and assistant and practical
nursing and paramedics. Approximately 2,700 students are served each year
by ASU-Searcy. Arkansas State University-Beebe was created in 1985 and
offers an Associates in Applied Sciences in agricultural equipment, computer-
aided drafting, computer systems, electronics, electronics engineering and
medical laboratory technology.
